It’s easy to write off Japan as place to take the kids if you don’t speak the language and are worried they might not like the food.
But you’ll be missing out on one of the great family holiday destinations – it’s crazy fun, culturally cool and a safe, easy-to-get-around country with so much for kids to do you’ll need a second trip to fit it all in.
Here are eight reasons Japan is fantastic for kids:
1. THEME PARKS
For a not-so-large country Japan has a bucketload of theme parks. There’s not one but TWO Disneyland parks (Toyko Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea). There’s Universal Studios in Osaka, home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and queues that have to be seen to be believed (but you’ll think it is totally worth it when you’re sipping a Butterbeer looking at Hogwarts); and countless other rollercoastery-type amusement parks such as Fuji Q Highland.
But it’s not just all about the thrill rides. There are historical theme parks that recreate Old Japan, such as Edo Wonderland (think 17th century samurai), that are great for imagining life as it was before neon signs and conveyor belt sushi.
