The Prince Hotels Snow resorts are situated at:
- Mt Naeba
- Mt Naeba Kagura
- Myoko Kogen
- Shiga Kogen
- Manza Onsen
Profile – Shizukuishi
Prince Hotels has just completed an extensive upgrade to both the Shizukushi Hotel and the surrounding snow facilities. The resort is located in northern Honshu in the prefecture of Iwate, 560km north of Tokyo. One of the advantages of the resorts location is that – while it is quite popular with Japanese skiers – it is not as visited by foreign skiers – meaning an authentic Japanese ski experience not found in many of the other resorts popular with foreign visitors.
From Tokyo, train travel is the easiest way to get there and the Prince Hotel provides free shuttles to the resort from the local train station. The Prince Hotel acts as the centrepiece for the area , offering stunning views of nearby Mt Iwate, and offers perfect ski-in ski-out facilities and western style accommodation. The hotel has a number of excellent of restaurants, a ski and snowboard rental outlet, and numerous smaller shops for snacks and general goods.
One of the highlights of the Prince Hotel is the Takakura Onsen, a hot spring recognised as an onsen heritage site.
During a winter ski holiday, the outdoor undercover onsen offers a sublime experience , surrounded by snow-covered rocks, waterfalls – and a large pond right next to the onsen where bathers can view large goldfish swimming while they soak and relax.
Japan Holidays will be featuring Shizukuishi and other Prince Hotel Snow Resorts in its 2017-2018 Japan Ski Holiday offerings – make sure to check back for details soon!
