Your Tour Leader – Kate Heffernan

Qualified in Horticulture at the University of Queensland Kate enjoys a career of over 30 years. It includes Botanic Gardens, garden design and construction in the public and private sectors, and more than a decade teaching horticulture, garden history and landscape. Kate is known locally for her weekly feature articles from 2012 to 2020 in the Gold Coast Bulletin and Gold Coast Sun and as Saturday Garden Presenter on ABC Radio 91.7 FM. As part of the Horticulture Media Kate makes presentations at many garden events and has made several guest appearances on ABC’s Gardening Australia. Her passion is the world of Botanic and Public Gardens, and for the past twenty years Kate has had a significant role developing the Gold Coast’s own Regional Botanic Gardens.
