We are one step closer to travel to Japan with the Japanese government opening its borders on November 8th to sponsored business travelers and students studying in Japan. Quarantine requirements are now down to 3 days of ‘home’ quarantine, which can be done in a hotel of your choice for business travelers.

COVID-19 infections across the country continue to drop and as of November 9th, there were just 209 new infections across Japan and Tokyo reported just 30 cases!  Testing numbers are still low in Japan compared to Australia with just 52,712 tests done on November 8th but the number of daily deaths has also dropped dramatically and on November 6th, NHK reported zero deaths for the first time in 15 months! The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has some good graphics on the COVID-19 trends in Japan over time.

The vaccination rate has risen another 4% in the past two and half weeks with 74% now being fully vaccinated. While Australia was lagging behind Japan for some time, we have now overtaken Japan with 81.1% of Aussies over the age of 16 fully vaccinated as of November 10 according to the Department of Health.

We will be monitoring the situation on a daily basis and will update this page when border restrictions in Japan change.

We are taking bookings for Japan now and deposits are fully refundable if you are unable to travel due to border closures, so contact us today for a quote at info@japanholidays.com.au.
