
Day 1: Arrival in Kanazawa
Shinkansen from Tokyo and stay in Kanazawa.
Day 2: Kanazawa City – Nanto (City Ride + 35km)
Start with city ride in Kanazawa, one of the most beautiful traditional cities in Japan. After that, ride through extensive rice field to Nanto (Toyama).

Day 3: Nanto – Shirakawa-go (62km)
Ride along Shogawa river, surrounded by beautiful nature to Shrakawa-go. As you get close to today’s destination, Shirakawwa-go, you’ll see Japanese classic townscape with unique old houses.

Day 4: Shirakawa-go – Takayama (65km)
Climb through Amo Mountain pass (12km long, 800m elevation) and down through to Takayama, old town district with nature traditional buildings of Edo era.

Day 5: Takayama – Gero (78km)
Ride from Takayama through beautiful autumn leaves seen from Seseragi road. Gero, today’s destination, is one of the most popular towns of hot springs in Japan. This is halfway to final destination Kyoto, so Gero onsen might be perfect to heal your legs at the middle of this cycling journey. Also, shorter and easier course is available upon requests today.

Day 6: Gero – Magome (65km)
Today’s long ride includes a couple of quite hills and rural scape, and leads to Magome, an old post town. This town is located of Nakasendo which connects Japan’s two significant city (Tokyo and Kyoto) in Edo era, you can step back to Edo Samurai era during your stay in Magome.

Day 7: Magome – Minokamo (73km)
Ride from Magome through Nakasendo road to Minokamo. Today’s ride is mainly descending the hills and one uphill in the middle. Highlights of the day will be some village scapes and Inuyama castle, registered as national treasure.

Day 8: Minokamo – Hikone (75km)
Today, you will travel from a castle town to another castle town. Apart from rural scapes in recent days, you’ll mostly ride through a city today. In Hikone, you’ll see Lake Biwa, the biggest lake in Japan and Hikone Castle. You’ll enjoy your stay in this traditional castle town. Also wagyu in this area is popular, try it at dinner if you can.

Day 9: Hikone – Kyoto (73km)
The final cycling of this tour. Ride through Lake Biwa loop cycling course to Otsu (capital of Shiga). At the halfway of ride, you’ll go through Biwako-Ohashi Bridge across Lake Biwa. The final goal Kyoto has a lot of historical sites.

Day 10: Kyoto Sightseeing.
There are many places to visit in Kyoto. Suggested sites are Kiyomizu Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine with 2000 torii gates, Kinkakuji Golden Pavilion Garden and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
