Starting in Imabari, this route takes riders through scenic coastlines, deep valleys, and remote mountain villages, gradually climbing into the heart of Shikoku’s central mountain range. The tour finishes in the vibrant city of Kochi, where you can enjoy the refreshing breeze of the Pacific coast.
Designed for intermediate to advanced riders, the route covers approximately 45–70 km per day with moderate climbs and rolling terrain. The itinerary also allows time for sightseeing and local exploration, offering a relaxed way to experience Shikoku’s unique landscapes and culture.
Accommodation includes traditional Japanese ryokan and charming lodgings in rural mountain areas, providing a comfortable and authentic environment to unwind after each day’s ride.

Upon arrival in Japan, you will meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Tokyo.
After your long journey, the rest of the day is reserved for relaxation and preparation for the adventure ahead.
Take time to rest and settle in before beginning your cycling journey across Japan the following day.
Fly from Haneda Airport to Kochi City. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check in while preparing for the ride beginning the following day.
Take in the unique atmosphere of Kochi and enjoy the transition from the busy urban environment to the relaxed pace of Shikoku, as the journey truly begins to unfold.
Cycle into the heart of Shikoku’s mountain region, visiting the towns of Motoyama and Tosa. After enjoying a local lunch, continue the ride with opportunities to experience rural life and interact with local farming communities. This first day of cycling focuses on the scenic Reihoku area, known for its dramatic mountain landscapes and beautiful terraced rice fields.
Enjoy a full day of cycling based around the scenic Sameura Lake area. Riding distances can be adjusted according to the group’s fitness level and preferences. Cycle through beautiful lakeside scenery and peaceful rural landscapes, with opportunities to stop at local roadside stations for breaks and light refreshments along the way. In the evening, return to Sameura-so and enjoy a relaxed stay, making the most of the comfort and convenience of a multi-night base.
Spend the day cycling through the spectacular landscapes of the Iya Valley. Starting from Oboke Station, the route heads deep into the remote Iya region surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. After riding along scenic valley roads, visit the famous Kazurabashi Vine Bridge and enjoy a local soba lunch. In the afternoon, continue toward the Ochiai Village area, gradually climbing into the mountains while taking in breathtaking panoramic views. Arrive at the accommodation in the evening and unwind in the peaceful natural surroundings of Iya.
Today’s route explores the mountainous area around Mt. Tsurugi. In the morning, cycle toward the foothills before enjoying a relaxed lunch near the ropeway station. In the afternoon, take the Mt. Tsurugi Ropeway up into the alpine zone, followed by a short trek to enjoy spectacular panoramic views from the summit area. Although the cycling distance is relatively moderate, the day offers breathtaking high-altitude scenery and the refreshing atmosphere of Shikoku’s mountain highlands.
Cycle from the foothills of Mt. Tsurugi toward the historic Udatsu Townscape, spending the day immersed in traditional Japanese culture and scenery. The morning ride features enjoyable downhill sections through beautiful countryside roads. Around midday, explore the preserved historic streets, with an optional indigo dyeing experience available for those interested.
After lunch, continue to the peaceful hot spring retreat Asan Kotonami Yusanso, where you can relax and recover surrounded by nature.
In the morning, cycle from the lush mountain countryside toward Kotohira-gu Shrine, climbing the famous stone steps and experiencing the spiritual culture of Zozu Mountain overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. In the afternoon, continue riding to Zentsu-ji Temple, where you can enjoy temple visits and a stroll around the historic area before checking in at the temple lodging, Iroha Kaikan. This day offers an immersive experience into the culture and traditions of the Shikoku pilgrimage region.
Begin the day with an early morning Buddhist prayer service experience at Zentsu-ji Temple, taking a quiet moment to reflect on the journey so far. Afterwards, travel to Takamatsu and explore Ritsurin Garden, one of Shikoku’s most celebrated traditional gardens. For those interested, an optional visit to Naoshima Art Island can also be arranged.
Enjoy Sanuki udon, explore the city, and spend the evening sharing memories with fellow travelers as the journey through Shikoku comes to a close. A perfect final day to experience the region’s culture, cuisine, and camaraderie.
Conclude your stay in Takamatsu and travel onward to Tokyo. Reflect on the cycling adventures and local experiences enjoyed throughout Shikoku as you return to mainland Japan. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel in Tokyo and enjoy a relaxing evening while taking in the lasting memories of the journey before the final day of the tour.
On the final day, transfer to Haneda Airport for your departure flight home. As your journey comes to an end, take with you the unforgettable memories of Shikoku’s magnificent natural landscapes, regional culture, and the sense of achievement that comes from exploring Japan by bicycle.
