Visiting some of Japan’s most impressive art galleries and museums -both private and public – this tour allows travellers to experience the full gamut of the Japanese art experience – from ancient, to medieval, to modern.
The tour starts with a visit to the world-renowned 21_21 Design Sight design museum in Roppongi museum – created by architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Issey Miyaki – and follows with a tour of the The National Museum of Western Art – the premier public art gallery in Japan specializing in art from the Western tradition.
The tour travels by bullet train, public transport and even stunning ferry rides, with ferry transfers to Naoshima Island to visit
visit the world-famous Art House Project, the Chichu Art Museum, the Ando Museum, among others. Visits to beautiful Japanese parks and temples are woven into the tour experience.
In Kyoto, stroll through the Garden of Fine Art Kyoto, the Raku Museum, Kyoto International Manga Museum and the Ryukoku Buddhism Museum. On the way back to Tokyo, stay in Hakone, enjoy a stay at a traditional Japanese ryokan (Japanese inn) with full Japanese dinner , and visit the famous Hakone Open-air Museum – featuring over a thousand sculptures and collections of artworks including Picasso, Henry Moore, Taro Okamoto, Yasuo Mizui, Churyo Sato, and many others.
