About Shiga Kogen

One of the largest snow resorts in Japan, and world-renowned as a venue for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, Shiga Kogen is located in the northeastern part of Nagano Prefecture. It is home to ski areas where you can descend from elevations as high as 2,307 meters — among the highest in Japan.

Eighteen interconnected ski areas span altitudes from 1,300 to 2,300 meters, ensuring excellent snow quality throughout the season. Designated as part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the area offers breathtaking panoramic views and pristine natural surroundings.

With an impressive total of 84 courses that make full use of the natural terrain, Shiga Kogen everyone from beginners to expert skiers.

From Tokyo Station, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano Station (approx. 1 hour 20–30 minutes). From Nagano Station (East Exit), take an express bus to Shiga Kogen (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes).

About Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel

Shiga Kogen Prince Hotel is situated in Japan’s foremost snow resort, Shiga Kogen. The hotel consists of an east building, a south building, and a west building. Our location at the foot of the Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Area allows you to ski in and ski out while you’re enjoying the perfect powder snow.
The hotel offers a full range of amenities, including a large public bath, souvenir shops, and a ski school. Guests can also access information about nearby sightseeing spots, such as Jigokudani Monkey Park and Zenkoji Temple, making it an ideal base for both skiing and exploring the region.
