Overview
Tochigi prefecture is located about 50 to 100 kilometers north of Tokyo- it offers a fast, easy escape into stunning nature, rich Japanese history, and great local food.
Whilst best known for the many spectacular temples and shrines in the Nikko area, Tochigi Prefecture has a great deal more to offer as the home of some of Japan's most exciting adventure experiences in nature, noteably still and white water rafting and canyoning, particularly around the picturesque Kinugawa Onsen Area.
It is also home to the famous Edo Wonderland - a cultural theme park with a difference - that recreates a traditional town from the Edo period (1603–1867).
It features authentic architecture, live theater performances, interactive historical experiences, and staff dressed in period costume .
Visitors can also rent historical outfits to dress as samurais, ninjas, princesses, or local townspeople.
An action-packed, family orientated adventure holiday, including staying in traditional Japanese inns (ryokan), a farm visit to harvest your own vegetables , followed by a farmhouse lunch with the locals, experience Japanese onsen bathing, warm Japanese hospitality and delicious Japanese cuisine.

Itinerary
Sample Itinerary
A high speed bullet train whisks you away to the peace and serenity of countryside of Tochigi prefecture.
Your driver will then take you to a peaceful bamboo grove where you can wander and play and enjoy lunch before heading to your accommodation in the countryside.
A late afternoon guided stroll through the town is also possible.
A guided tour of the countryside, marvel at the rice art in the fields and visit a local farm, where you can pick some vegetables and enjoy a lunch made from all the local produce while learning from the farmers about their lifestyle.
It’s a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with locals and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kinugawa onsen.
The afternoon will be spend exploring Edo Wonderland, a fun and educational ‘theme park’ that will take you back 400 years in time to see first hand how life in Japan was at that time.
The morning will be spend rafting down a beautiful river.
There’s time to do some exploring, rock climbing, jumping for the adventurous and swim in the river too.
More excitement today with a canyoning experience tailored to suit the age of participants.

You will be transferred to Nikko where you will catch the Spacia X train back to Tokyo.
For those wanting to explore Nikko, a private guide can be organised for the day.
