About Shizukuishi
Shizukuishi Ski Resort is one of northern Japan’s most scenic and well loved ski destinations, known for its expansive views of Mt. Iwate, high quality snow, and relaxed atmosphere ideal for families and international visitors.
Its convenient access from Morioka makes it a popular choice for those seeking a balanced ski holiday with comfort, nature, and authentic Japanese hospitality.
Shizukuishi is located in Iwate Prefecture, approximately 12 km northwest of the town of Shizukuishi and about 40 km from Morioka City. Travel from Tokyo to Morioka via the Tohoku Shinkansen takes around 2 hours 10 minutes, followed by a 40–50 minute transfer to the resort. It is also possible to reach the resort by air: the flight from Osaka Itami Airport takes about one hour, followed by a 90 minute drive to the destination.
The ski area offers a wide variety of terrain, including long groomed runs, beginner friendly slopes, and scenic courses overlooking Mt. Iwate. Shizukuishi is also home to the famous SnowCAT Backcountry Tour, providing access to untouched powder and panoramic alpine views—one of the resort’s signature experiences.
