Shin-etsu Trail Refreshing Hiking
5 days | 4 nights
The Shinetsu Trail, an untouched, 110km-long trail -consisting of six sections- that runs along the Sekida Mountain Range on the border between Nagano and Niigata Prefectures. It passes through small villages, farmlands and beech forests, and offers an insight into how Japan’s natural beauty intersects with everyday regional life.
It follows one of the oldest trails in Japan. Despite its long use for trade and travel, it remains the least known long-distance trail in Japan and has a rich history dating back to just after the Nara Period (AD 710-784).
The trekking course in this 5-day tour is just a sample of the first half of the Shin-etsu trail- schedules are flexible upon request including a 10 day course.
