Myoko Kogen
Myoko Kogen is one of Japan’s best kept secrets, offering some of the best skiing and boarding in Japan.
The traditional resort receives a huge annual snowfall (almost as much snow as Niseko).
The resort is very reasonably priced from everything to meals, lift passes and accommodation.
Most accommodation is Japanese style, but western rooms are available in Japanese style hotels. There’s also an english speaking ski school and ski rental here.
The Myoko Kogen Ski Area is made up of nine main mountain resorts: Myoko Akakura Onsen, Ikenotaira Onsen, Myoko Suginohara, Seki Onsen, Akakura Kanko (a.k.a. Akakan), Myoko Ski Park, Madarao Kogen and Tangram Ski Circus, all with their own special distinctive features.
Myoko Suginohara boasts the longest ski run in Japan (roughly 8.5 km) and Akakura Onsen Ski Resort possesses the steepest ski run in central Japan (38°).
